Responsible care

Responsible Care is much more than a buzzword at Bayer
Talking about “responsibility” as part of corporate philosophy is not enough. Bayer is actively committed to the chemical industry’s worldwide Responsible Care initiative.
That means making sure that all employees actively embrace responsibility for meeting environmental protection and safety goals in their daily work. Bayer is committed to conserving natural resources, operating its facilities safely and minimizing the environmental impact of its activities.

Success in the areas of environmental protection and safety is only possible if all employees apply their skills and expertise innovatively and responsibly. Bayer provides appropriate training in these areas because every individual employee is expected to set an example by his or her behavior.

Environment and Nature
Bayer supports the unique campaign „Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign“ initiated by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP): One billion trees are supposed to be planted in 2007. Bayer has decided to donate 100,000 trees to Nairobi, Kenya, where our partner UNEP is headquartered.
As a foundation member, the company supports the Global-Compact initiative, and cooperates, as the first private company associate, in the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). Moreover, we cooperate with the Global Business Coalition against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
Further information on the program you find here and on the web page of the United Nations Environment Programme.
Information on Global Compact you find here  and on the United Nations web site.
